An international strategic expert on Transport and Trade policy, John has particular experience in shipping and aviation.
As Director General for Transport in the European Commission, he was responsible for all transport policy, and the formulation of EU legislation on aviation, shipping and inland transport. His deep practical knowledge of the European Union is combined with considerable experience in UK Government posts, in London and Washington D.C., and also in the private sector.
John has been a non-executive Director of P&O Steam Navigation (now DP World) and P&O Container Line; Chairman of P&O European Transport Services; Member of the Dover Harbour Board; Member of the Board of the Business Aircraft Users' Association (BAUA), and of the Council of the British Business and General Aviation Association (BBGA).
